Traveling to France
France is one of the most visited destinations in the world for many reasons. The culture, the beaches and the fantastic monuments are just the beginning. Dining in France can be a wonderful experience. Much of the cuisine is from locally grown ingredients, and is very fresh and flavorful. Some local dishes you might want to try are coq au vin, ratatouille, steak tartare, and boeuf bourguignon.
Customs of France are very refined, starting with the greeting of kissing lightly on both cheeks. First names are not usually used unless you are addressing family or friends. Bonjour and au revoir are expected when entering or leaving shops in France. When dining, good table manners are a must, and you should not begin eating until your host or hostess speak the words bon appetit.
Sightseeing is a wonderful thing to do while in France, as there is so much to see. If you are into skiing or rock climbing, the Alpes are a fantastic place to do both. The Pyrenees are fabulous for hikers, and the views are magnificent.
The French Riviera – Cote d’Azur is the place to go for beach lovers. Many famous people frequent this area, along with their beautiful yachts. The nightlife is also amazing if you are a night owl.
Provence has some great tourist areas to visit. Old Town is relaxing for a nice stroll, and La Croisette is a shoppers dream come true. Castle Hill has the most awesome views of Nice and the ocean you will ever see.
Museums are what you will find in Normandy, along with plenty of history. The British War Cemetery and the Museum of the Bayeux Tapestry are two of the top spots to visit. Pay respects at the cemetery, and gaze at the beautiful 230 foot long tapestry depicting the Norman conquest of England.
Of course you will want to view all the famous landmarks and monuments while in France. The Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, and Lourdes Grotto are must see attractions. The Musee de Louvre is the home of the Mona Lisa, a definite highlight of your trip.
